Course description

Our Composite Materials course will highlight the environmental, supervisory and certification requirements applicable to commercial composite aircraft structures.

This course is aimed for Technical Managers, certifying staff and Supervisors with a responsibility for current or future composite aircraft structures. This course would also act as a refresher for all B1 licence holders.

  • Introduction to composite aircraft structure and its maintenance requirements
  • Properties and characteristics of composite structure in aircraft
  • Safety and material handling requirements for composite structure
  • Design criteria applicable to composite aircraft structure
  • The damage assessment process for aircraft composite structure
  • Extraction of engineering data required for damage assessment on composite structure
  • Typical composite aircraft structure repair techniques
  • The requirements for composite repair inspection and certification

Course objectives

To provide students with the fundamental knowledge of properties of aircraft composite structure, their damage modes as well as an overview of damage assessment and repair processes.
