Resource Group spreads its unmanned wings to meet East and West demand

Resource Group’s Unmanned Aviation Services division has recently completed a training contract in Hong Kong and has formed a new partnership in the United States. These new developments will help to further expand the business’s global reach for its Remote Pilot Qualification programme in support of the ambition to share training best practice worldwide.

In the East, Resource Group instructors carefully planned and delivered the first Remote Pilot Qualification-small (RPQ-s) course in Hong Kong to the Hong Kong Land Survey department, which included specific content regarding airspace regulations for Hong Kong. All of the students successfully achieved high level pass rates in the ground school and flight assessments. Based on the success of the course, Resource Group has been asked to return to Hong Kong at a later date in 2015 to roll out more training sessions. The training was observed by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department as part of its considerations for establishing a regulatory framework for Hong Kong.

To meet demand and changing regulations in the West, Resource Group has partnered with Droneview Technologies, an aerial imagery, advisory and training business based in Detroit, Michigan, USA. The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) has proposed regulations for the Operation and Certification of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems in the commercial market (previously prohibited). Through Resource Group’s partnership with Droneview, the RPQ-s will be delivered to operators looking to acquire the requisite skills to successfully pass the FAA operators knowledge test.

Reg Gott, CEO of Resource Group said: “Our expansion into wider overseas markets demonstrates the growing international recognition of our RPQ-s training program and operations consulting services for the safe commercial operations of unmanned aircraft systems. We’re delighted to be recognised as a leader in approved training solutions, accredited by the UK-CAA, and it is our aim to ensure the future of operating remotely piloted systems is a safe one, internationally.”

Resource Group is currently promoting a new free information initiative for the industry, its Fly Safe, Fly Legal campaign. More information can be found at www.flysafeflylegal.co.uk
