Resource Group’s CEO, Stephan Hickman addresses COVID-19
They say a crisis brings people together.
My observations, both within our organisation at Resource Group, and in the aviation sector more broadly, are that this has certainly rung true in the midst of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We are facing unprecedented challenges with largely unknown solutions. Despite this seemingly helpless position our people are rallying and I am proud of them.
I’ve seen other business leaders and politicians explaining that “we’re in it together” and we certainly are. However, aviation is more “in it” than certain other sectors and whilst the close-knit, cohesive, caring community in which we enjoy working is unified at the best of times, it is downright united in the worst.
This is definitely not time to think as ‘I’, but rather time to think as ‘We’. I have been impressed by the calmness and fortitude displayed by many people who have already been affected by this outbreak; it is heartening to see people stepping up to the challenge and doing what is necessary to look after their colleagues and clients.
We have had to ask individuals and teams to step outside of their core functions at short notice. Adapting to the challenges as they are presented to us on a day-to-day and week-to-week basis.
Our declared and united focus right now is the well-being of our staff and the support our clients. Accordingly, our locations in Switzerland, Germany, UK and Spain remain open and our highly-trained teams are busy deploying emergency cover for crewing and technical staffing requirements and flexible training solutions to meet the complex needs that our clients are facing.
Resource Group are accustomed with the deployment of skilled personnel in a world-wide context and whilst we see new complexities during these difficult times it is also heartening to see that we are literally keeping our clients flying.
