Resourcing the future! Record numbers of aviation apprentices to be trained by Resource Group in 2019

Resource Group, Europe’s leading aviation skills business has started 2019 with some key developments cementing its position as the go-to provider of aviation training and resourcing solutions.

Aviation Technical Training

 We started the year with an inspection of our EASA Part-147 technical training business by the UK’s Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) with a highly successful outcome. A key quote form the report stated:

“Directors have a very clear and long-term strategy to provide high-quality engineering apprenticeships to the aviation sector. They work very closely with a small number of blue-chip aviation companies to provide skilled and knowledgeable engineering apprentices which employers value very highly, even at an early stage in their apprenticeships.”

 In 2018 we trained more 90 maintenance apprentices for companies including British Airways, EasyJet, DHL, Thomas Cook Airlines and Virgin Atlantic Airlines. This year this number will rise to more than 130 and in doing so we will have trained more than 700 maintenance apprentices by the end of 2019, a significant contribution to helping address critical skills shortages in the MRO sector. The importance of the role we play in supporting the aerospace sector was highlighted by a visit from parliamentarian Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP FRICS to our training facility in Gloucestershire in February.

According to the Resource Group’s Managing Director for Training Services, Mr. Ian Fitzpatrick;

“We are delighted to be getting recognition for our contribution in addressing critical skills shortages and the high standards being achieved is reinforced by the prestigious clients trusting us to help them address this problem. We are actively looking at options to grow our capacity this year to address demand that we are seeing for this type of training“

Aside from basic maintenance training Resource Group has bolstered its Online Academy of technical personnel and flight crew eLearning products with the launch of a new North Atlantic Operations High Level Airspace course and has carried out a refresh of its popular Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) modules.  April 2019 will also see the formal launch of our eLearning Training Development services.

Aviation Resourcing and HR Outsource Solutions

 Our aviation resourcing business and pilot recruitment business (Contractair Ltd) are reaping the benefits of years of investment and starts 2019 with a new office and staff in Hamburg and in Madrid. We see particular growth and strong demand in the German and Spanish markets and we already use our presence in these markets to support a number of European regional airlines with fully complaint payroll and cross-border HR solutions. Especially in light of BREXIT our ability to manage the complexity of these situations is a significant benefit that allows customers to focus on their core business.

Resource Group’s CEO Stephan Hickman comments;

“We consider ourselves to be a ‘skills’ business first and foremost and we increasingly carry out blended, recruitment, assessment and training projects for our aviation clients. We have invested in these activities to be able to create unique solutions to the problems and challenges our clients face. We joined the ERA in late 2018 as we recognize the importance of these challenges to their members”
