About Vacancy

On behalf of my reputable client we are looking for a Head Of APU Services to be based in Ireland to run our client’s APU business.

As Head Of APU Services you will be responsible for managing and developing the APU Repair and Overhaul Business and will facilitate the completion of building a “World Class” Service Centre team through which a process of continuous improvement in respect of productivity, efficiency, profitability, customer satisfaction and quality will be delivered. Through their strong relationships with various OEMs, they have developed successful alliances for the repair and overhaul of a wide range of APU parts. You will be part of a business that operate a 4 bay base maintenance facility that can presently handle approx. 70 aircraft per annum, an APU overhaul centre that can handle 400 APUs a year and a Landing Gear services centre that has capacity for 250 legs annually.

Their Base Maintenance Business Unit and APU Repair Centre caters for both the Boeing B737 New Generation and Classic aircraft and Airbus A320 and A330 family.

Responsibilities:

Manage all personnel and resources within the workshop with an emphasis on staff engagement and maintaining a culture based on excellent team working and customer focus.
Ensure compliance with all Safety, Quality, Company and Regulatory Authority requirements.
Meeting customer’s expectations with respect to turnaround, cost, reliability and quality.
Identifying and managing projects to increase internal capability on APU’s APU Components and piece part repairs.
To develop strategic relationships and to maintain strong business links with the key suppliers/OEMs of APU parts and repairs.
Profitability of the Business Unit.
Report on all technical and airworthiness issues to Quality Manager.
Developing the role-played by Capacity Planning/ Demand Management.
Expand the portfolio of products by working on new the introduction of new component capability in conjunction with Product Development.
To be prepared to undertake other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Company from time to time.
Supporting the Commercial and Sales teams in a technical, customer support and commercial function including managing the day to day communication and interaction with contracted and repeat customers.

Requirements:

3rd level qualification or time-served Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline with management experience. (APU Repair and Overhaul or similar engine/production type background will be an advantage).
Previous responsibility for running a business/business unit would be an advantage.
Excellent technical and business knowledge is essential together with a high degree of commercial awareness and understanding of the APU business.
Confident with IT applications and personal communication skills.
An ability to manage, motivate and develop individual staff and teams.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership and negotiation skills.
Analytical, decision making, planning and organisational skills.
Confident with IT applications and personal communication skills.
A commitment to continuous improvement with the capacity to manage to key performance indicators.
